Argyle, Texas came to life in 1881 when the Texas & Pacific Railway added a stop at the base of Hickory Hill. Incorporated in 1963, Argyle has become a community known for its beautiful rural setting. Argyle, with a population of 3,100 (2007 estimate) within 11.1 square miles, has a small-town lifestyle in the rolling, wooded terrain of southwest Denton County. Just six miles south of the city of Denton, on the eastern edge of the Chisholm Trail.

Nearby Alliance Airport (15 miles away) offers an important cargo link for industry and commercial clients to and from national and international destinations. Alliance Airport is also home to the southwest regional hub for Federal Express.
Four counties in North Central Texas, including Denton County, accounted for 80% of all regional growth during 2006. Denton County is ranked in the top 25 fastest growing counties in the United States. Argyle, and the surrounding area, anticipates extremely high growth rates over the next 10 years.
For fishing, boating, and water sports, Lake Lewisville and Lake Grapevine are nearby, and other lakes are within close driving distance.
